Barry has some lovely dog-friendly beaches! Here are a few to check out:
Jackson’s Bay: This is a popular choice with locals and is dog-friendly all year round. It’s a clean, sandy cove with plenty of space for your dog to roam.
Old Harbour Beach: A quieter option than Jackson’s Bay, this beach has a more rugged, pebble- and rock-strewn shore, which dogs often enjoy exploring. Dogs are welcome here all year round.
Fontygary Bay: Just a short drive from Barry, this secluded bay offers a mix of rocks, grass, and sand, with dramatic cliffs as a backdrop. It’s a great spot for a dog walk with stunning views.
Porthkerry Beach: Located within Porthkerry Country Park, this pebble beach is surrounded by woodland and meadowland, offering plenty of space for dogs to explore.
Important Note: Whitmore Bay, a popular beach on Barry Island, has a dog ban in place between May 1st and September 30th. So, if you’re visiting during the summer months, stick to the other dog-friendly options.
